Learn more about the current state of employee perceptions and attitudes, as well as six critical actions C-suite leaders must take to build a change-ready workforce…

PwC’s latest Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey, the fifth in a series dating back to 2019, finds that more than half of workers feel there’s too much change at work happening at once, and 44% don’t understand why things need to change at all.

At the same time, workers also report increased workloads, uncertainty about job security…

Amid this turbulence, workers report increased workloads, job security concerns, and widespread financial challenges. However, the survey also highlights a silver lining: a significant portion of the workforce remains optimistic and engaged. Many employees express readiness to adapt to new working methods, showing eagerness to upskill and embrace generative AI (GenAI) to enhance efficiency. More than half of the respondents believe that recent changes make them optimistic about their company’s future.

The survey, which gathered insights from over 56,000 workers across 50 countries and regions, paints a picture of a global workforce in transition. While employees are open to future possibilities, current pressures are clouding their vision of the future and their role in it. Despite compelling business reasons for change, CEOs must work harder to communicate the necessity and benefits of these transformations to their most crucial stakeholders: their employees. Without employee understanding and involvement, transformation plans risk falling short.

The findings underscore the need for leaders to effectively convey the rationale behind changes and involve their workforce in driving these transformations to ensure long-term success and economic viability.

PwC: This year’s survey explores employee perceptions and attitudes relevant to six critical actions C-suite leaders must take to build a change-ready workforce across key transformation themes:

leading through transformation, unleashing the power of GenAI, and fuelling performance through upskilling and the employee experience.
