Tennis South Africa and American Express hosted the Amex Tennis Town to help fans in Montecasino enjoy live coverage of The Championships, Wimbledon 2024. As part of the experience, fans and Card Members gathered to watch a livestream of The Championships with additional access to virtual reality tennis gaming, photo moments, and onsite tennis clinics. They could also grab bites and refreshments from local vendors at the Amex Food Village, including Wimbledon favorites like strawberries and cream.

Select Platinum Card Members were invited to join an adventure-filled day with Amex in Pathum Thani, Thailand. They started the day test driving the latest Rolls-Royce models and made their way to a scenic boat ride along the Riverdale marina, followed by a sensory workshop where they learned how to create fragrance with Tom Ford Beauty. To end the day on a relaxing note, guests enjoyed a special dinner prepared by three-Michelin-starred Swiss Chef, Andreas Caminada, and could take home a personalized piece of glassware.

Select Card Members in Spain were invited to a special dining event as part of the Member-Get-Member referral program. Guests could meet Spanish chef Quique Dacosta and enjoy dishes from a five Michelin-star restaurant’s menu that featured beetroot and dill soup with frozen kefir and salmon, turbot rested in wines from the Jerez region, and rice with meat and roasted peppers.

We launched Plan It in 2017 to help Card Members finance large purchases. Unlike major online buy now pay later programs, Plan It is built into our consumer Card products and offers easier management through our website and mobile app.

Katy Emig, VP of Global Lending, helps manage Plan It and sat down with us to answer a few questions about this feature:

How is Plan It different compared to other features we offer and what’s our strategy for it?

Emig: What I love about Plan It is how it complements our other benefits and services and gives Card Members options! Our Card Members will always want different ways to pay for things, whether that’s using Plan It to pay in monthly installments, using Pay Over Time to carry a balance, paying in full, or redeeming Membership Rewards, so our goal is to continue to make Plan It even easier and more relevant for Card Members.

So, how is Amex working to make Plan It easier and more relevant for Card Members?

Emig: We know travel continues to be top of mind for many and in May 2021, we launched Plan It on Amex Travel so Card Members can book now and pay later for flights purchased on AmexTravel.com. Most recently, in partnership with Delta we launched Plan It as a checkout option on Delta.com and the Fly Delta app.

What questions should our Card Members ask themselves before creating a Plan?

Emig: First, understand how much you are paying. Plan It offers a transparent fixed fee up front, so you will know how much you’ll pay each month. Second, understand how long you want each plan to last. We offer up to three plan durations, ranging from 3-24 months, providing more choice and flexibility for payment options. Lastly, remain responsible in your lending behavior. Plan It is already part of your credit limits, so you can be rest assured that you aren’t overextending yourself when creating plans.

Amex Personal Loans allow us to be there for our Card Members throughout their financial journey and major life milestones: weddings, home repairs, and even emergencies. Card Members can take advantage of fixed interest rates with no hidden fees, a quick online application with a decision in seconds, and funds sent as fast as one day1.  

We sat down with Kristen McGinnis, VP of Product Management Lending, to learn more about this lending product and its benefit to Card Members:

What makes Amex products/services best-in-class?

McGinnis: Finances can be daunting and are complicated enough. Consumers are looking for simplicity with fewer accounts and fewer logins. They also want to work with financial services companies that they trust with their money. Our strategy at American Express has always been about listening to our customers and evolving our products and services to meet their needs. Amex Personal Loans are a great example of this. We created this product exclusively for our Card Members so we could meet the financial needs that we couldn’t with a credit card.

What questions should Card Members ask before applying for an Amex Personal Loan?
McGinnis: Card Members should first ask themselves, “Am I eligible for a Personal Loan and how will it impact my credit?” The great thing about Amex Personal Loans is that they don’t require credit checks because they are only available to eligible Card Members who are already pre-approved to apply. Simple! There could be a change in credit score only if the Card Member is approved and accepts the loan. It is also important for customers to understand interest rates, fees, and how long it will take to pay off the loan. All you need to know about our competitive APRs, repayment options, fees and other information are available on our website.

There can be some stigma around personal loans, especially from people concerned about debt. Do you have advice for people who may be considering a loan but are hesitant to take one on?
McGinnis: Personal Loans can offer financial control and flexibility through a straightforward and easy process. The competitive interest rates and fixed monthly payments we offer are a great option for debt consolidationmaking managing a monthly budget more straightforward. Personal Loans can also offer flexibility for those considering a personal loan for things like home improvement projects.

Morgan Stanley Capital Partners Completes Acquisition of American Restoration

Investment funds managed by Morgan Stanley Capital Partners (“MSCP”), the middle-market focused private equity team at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, has acquired American Restoration, which provides residential and commercial property mitigation and restoration services. MSCP is partnering with the current management team led by CEO Dan Tarantin, who will continue to lead the business.

Headquartered in Dallas, American Restoration operates across 10 states through eight regional brands. The company provides emergency and loss-related mitigation services as well as complementary follow-on repair and rebuild services to both residential and commercial customers. American Restoration has grown into a leading platform in the industry through a combination of strong organic growth, strategic M&A, and a focus on customers in their time of need.

TIMELESS ELEGANCE AND SPEED: A GLIMPSE INTO THE DESIGN PROCESS OF THE BUGATTI TOURBILLON

Premiering on YouTube today, July 25th, the latest episode of the new series reveals the insights of Frank Heyl, Director of Design, into the thrill – and challenge – of crafting a fresh incarnation of quintessential Bugatti design philosophy.

“With over 115 years of Bugatti history, there is a rich legacy of design DNA that we can reference to; we have a guiding line emphasizing what defines a Bugatti,” explains Frank Heyl. “What we need to take into account is this: form always follows performance.”

Echoed across every Bugatti design in the modern era, the Tourbillon is ‘shaped by speed’ from front to rear. Through each curve, intake, exhaust, and panel – the entire architecture of the Tourbillon has been meticulously crafted to unlock new levels of performance.

In this vein, aerodynamic performance goes hand-in-hand with every design decision made. Whether it is top speed, or a high downforce value like in the Bugatti Bolide² – the question is asked: is there a performance purpose connected to it?

Such attention to engineering-detail is infused throughout the car, enabling the Tourbillon to harness the forces of travelling at more than 400 km/h. But for Bugatti, that is only half of the story the Tourbillon has been crafted to tell in this new chapter for the brand.

With the Tourbillon, and every Bugatti that came before it, timelessness is at the core of its design. “Bugatti is about the interplay between elegance and speed,” Frank Heyl notes.

“Because these cars are around for so long, we also need to keep them current and in-vogue. What dates a car is the technology of the time it was created in; 100 years from now, today’s technology won’t be cutting-edge anymore. Instead, we need to focus on preciousness.”

The design philosophy behind the Tourbillon faithfully reflects this ethos.

Taking inspiration from the art of watchmaking, the timelessness of century-old timepieces and their use even today, the cabin of the Tourbillon is defined by an authentically unique analogue experience.

For Frank Heyl and the Tourbillon design team, experience is the operative word in this new era of Bugatti.

“The experience – that is what we tailor-made the Tourbillon to evoke. It is about how you feel when you sit in the driver’s seat; touching the aluminum switchgear; how weighted the dials are when you turn them; the smell of the leather; the noise of the naturally aspirated, 9,000 RPM V16 engine. It sounds really emotional. The design of the Tourbillon could be seen as an evolutionary approach.

However, the radicality and extremeness of this concept’s execution is unlike anything we have ever done before.   • 2022 yılında %45’in üzerine çıkmıştı, 2023 yılında daha önceki yıllarda sahip olduğu seviyeye geri döndü.

Avrupa Kamuoyu ve Pazar Araştırmaları Birliği ESOMAR, her yıl tüm ülkelerin temsilcileri ile dünya araştırma pazarı büyüklüğünü hesaplamak için “Global Market Research” çalışmasını yürütüyor. Türkiye Araştırma Sektörü Büyüklüğü Raporu soru formu ise, ESOMAR’ın soru formundan yola çıkılarak TÜAD Yönetim Kurulu tarafından yapılan düzenlemelerle oluşturuluyor.

Derneğin liderliğinde hazırlanan rapor, Türkiye’de araştırma sektöründe faaliyet gösteren, rapor çalışmasına katılmaya gönüllü araştırma ve veri toplama şirketlerinden alınan veriler sonucu ortaya çıkıyor.

2023 yılı için Türkiye Araştırma Sektörü Büyüklüğü Raporu için 26 araştırma şirketi ve 7 veri toplama şirketi katılım gösterdi. 33 şirkete varan bu katılım sayısı, geçen yıla göre dörtte bir oranında daha yüksek. Oluşturulan raporda toplam sektör büyüklüğü, TÜAD Yönetim Kurulu tarafından sektörün bilgi paylaşmayan bölümü için yapılan tahminlerle son haline getirildi. Raporun sonuçlarına göre, Türkiye’de araştırma sektörü 2023 yılında TL bazında % 86 büyüdü, bu oran TÜİK tarafından açıklanan reklamcılık ve piyasa araştırması hizmetleri üretici fiyat endeksinin gerisinde kaldı. (28 Şubat 2024’te yayınlanan Ocak 2023 istatistiklerine göre üretici fiyat endeksinin en çok yükseldiği sektör %130,22’ lik artışla reklamcılık ve piyasa araştırması hizmetleridir.)

2023 Yılı, Kantitatif Araştırmalar ile Panel Araştırmaları için Dengeye Dönüş Senesi Oldu

 Araştırma şirketlerinin araştırma yöntemine göre ciro dağılımları incelendiğinde, paneller ve kantitatif araştırmalar ön plana çıkıyor. 2023 yılı için ciro dağılımında kantitatif araştırmaların oranı %44.9 iken, panellerin oranı %39.5, kalitatif araştırmaların ise %9.2 oldu. 2018 yılından bu yana benzer seviyede devam eden panel araştırmalarının cirosu 2022 yılında %45’in üzerine çıkmıştı, 2023 yılında daha önceki yıllarda sahip olduğu seviyeye geri döndü. 

Kantitatif araştırmaların ciro dağılımı, araştırma yöntemi kırılımında incelendiğinde, yüz yüze ve online/mobil araştırmalar başı çekiyor.  2018 yılına kadar online/mobil araştırmalar payı yavaş bir şekilde artış gösterirken, pandeminin de etkisi ile 2019 ve 2020 yıllarında her yıl bir önceki yıla göre payını yaklaşık iki katına çıkardı. Bu esnada yüz yüze araştırmaların payı 2020 yılında ciddi bir düşüş gösterdi ve sonraki yıllarda benzer seviyelerde kaldı. 2023 yılında online/mobil araştırmalar %45 oran ile ilk sıradayken yüz yüze araştırmalar %38 oran ile ikinci sırada yer aldı.

Araştırma Sektöründe Çalışan Sayısı Artmıyor

Türkiye Araştırma Sektörü Büyüklüğü Raporu sonuçlarına göre sektörde 2023 yılında toplam çalışan sayısı 2021 yılına göre %20 daha az. Raporlama çalışmasına düzenli olarak katılan 18 araştırma firmasından elde edilen verilere göre 2023 yılında araştırma sektöründe toplam çalışan sayısı 1.573 kişi. Bu rakam, yarı zamanlı çalışanlar, anketörler, freelance ve sözleşmeli çalışan kişileri de kapsıyor. Tam zamanlı çalışan kişi sayısına ise çalışmada raporda 1.398 kişi olarak raporlanıyor.

TÜAD Başkanı ve Ipsos Türkiye CEO’su Sidar Gedik rapora ilişkin değerlendirmelerini şu şekilde ifade etti:“Türkiye Araştırma Sektörü Büyüklüğü Raporu, TÜAD’ın sektörümüze en önemli katkılarından bir tanesidir. Yıllardır sektörün gelişimini ve konjonktürün sektörümüze etkilerini bu rapor sonuçlarına göre takip ediyor, şirketlerimizin ve sektörümüzün yol haritasını oluşturuyoruz. Bu sebeple raporun ortaya çıkmasına katkı sağlayan tüm şirketlere ve TÜAD gönüllülerine çok teşekkür ediyorum.

Hacmi itibarıyla ülke ekonomisinden çok daha büyük bir hızla büyümesi gereken sektörümüz, enflasyon seviyesini göz önüne aldığımızda 2023 yılında yeterli seviyede büyüyemedi. Durumu daha net ortaya koymak için sektörün dolar cinsinden performansına da bakabiliriz. 2011 yılında cirosu 196 milyon USD olan araştırma sektörünün 2023 yılındaki büyüklüğü 118.7 milyon USD.  Türkiye ekonomisi 2011 yılından bu yana USD bazında %33 büyüyerek 1 trilyon doları aşarken, araştırma sektörü küçüldü. Bu durum da bizim toplam ekonomideki payımızın giderek küçüldüğünü gösteriyor.

Sektörümüzdeki tüm şirketler ve meslek örgütü olarak hep birlikte sektörün büyümesine odaklanmamız şart.  Araştırmanın markalar için bir yatırım kalemi olduğu anlayışını hep birlikte yerleştirmemiz çok önemli. Çünkü araştırma yapmadan öngörüde bulunmak, başarılı olabilmek çok zor. Ülke sektörünün oyuncuları olarak en yeni yaklaşımlar, teknolojiler ve yetkin insan kaynağı ile markaların araştırma yatırımlarını artırmalarını sağlamalıyız.

Sektörümüzün teknolojisini güçlendirmesi, üretken yapay zekâ ile teknoloji ve dijital devrimin yaşandığı bir dönemde dönüşmesi, bu alanlarda yeni yatırımlar yapması ve yeni yetenekleri kendisine çekmesi de kritik öneme sahip. 2023 yılında çalışan sayımız bir önceki yıla göre artmış olsa da 2021 yılının altındayız. Sektörümüzün geleceği için karar vericiler olarak bu konuya odaklanmalı ve araştırma dünyasının sahip olduğu insan kaynağını artırmalıyız. Genç yetenekler için devamlı öğrenip kendilerini geliştirecekleri, araştırma yaparken üretken yapay zekâ ile kendi sınırlarını zorlayacakları ve zamanın ruhunu yakalayacakları bir sektör olmalıyız.”

TÜAD HAKKINDA

1988 yılında Türkiye’nin ilk pazarlama araştırması şirketi olan PEVA Araştırma’nın kurucusu Nezih Neyzi tarafından kurulan TÜAD-Türkiye Araştırmacılar Derneği, ana faaliyet alanı pazarlama ve kamuoyu araştırmaları olan tüzel ve gerçek kişilerin üye olduğu bir meslek örgütüdür.   

Farklı alanlarda faaliyet gösteren birçok sektöre, katma değeri yüksek veri ve bilgi sağlaması nedeniyle, Araştırmacılar Derneği’ne 2009 yılında İçişleri Bakanlığı onayıyla, “Türkiye” ön adı verilmiş ve “Türkiye Araştırmacılar Derneği” unvanı tescil edilmiştir.   TÜAD, sektörle ilgili ulusal ve uluslararası mesleki ilkeler, yasalar ve sektörün kalite standartlarının oluşturulması konusunda çalışmalar yapmaktadır. TÜAD Tüzel Üyeleri, GAB-Güvenilir Araştırma Belgesi ve ISO 20252 kalite belgelerine sahiptir. Yapılan araştırmalarda güvenirlik, şeffaflık ilkesine bağlı kalınması ve kalite standartlarının sürdürülebilir olmasını sağlamak amacıyla, TÜAD tüzel üyeleri, bağımsız, uluslararası, TÜRKAK’a akredite bir denetleme kuruluşu tarafından her yıl düzenli olarak denetlenmektedir.   

TÜAD’ın, RÖK-Reklam Özdenetim Kurulu’nda ve benzeri oluşumlarda temsilcileri bulunmaktadır. Derneğin, araştırma ve araştırmayla ilgili paydaş sektörleri ilgilendiren yasa, yönetmelik ve tüzüklerin düzenlenmesinde, sektör otoritesi olarak kanaat önderliği rolü bulunmaktadır. TÜAD Danışma Konseyi aracılığıyla, araştırmalarla ilgili ihtilafa düşülen durumlarda ilgili marka/kurum/kuruluşlara ve mahkemelere bilir kişi olarak hizmet vermektedir.

Reformulating Strategic Enterprise Purpose

My career path is not considered traditional by any means: graduated university as a microbiologist, volunteered for active-duty military service as special operations medic, obtained my MPH in public health epidemiology, entered pharmaceuticals as bench-level scientist transitioning into laboratory management before jumping across the aisle into Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance leadership.

After nearly 18+ years, it was then I felt my career was stalling and given my colorful background, I decided to pursue an opportunity to return to APAC.

At the time, I had very few network contacts in APAC with limited exposure to quality regulations and compliance; therefore, it was opportunistic and quite unscripted as I was offered an opportunity in my native homeland, Thailand.

Embarking on my rejuvenated career, the surprises were not yet over – shortly after beginning my position as Quality Director, I was asked for my professional opinion for candidacy of next business/strategic direction leader.

The incumbent Managing Director term was nearing the end of contractual obligation and questions/concerns arose from our international HQ how to fulfill the role. I simply asked: “Why not me?”

It was met with initial incredulous stare – here’s a guy with 20+ years experience within quality and no other pedigree to substantiate or justify the nomination. I will say that I shocked myself – I had been thinking it for a couple of years after arriving in Thailand, although I successfully contained my inner voice. Never did I think it would progress to the point after which I completed multiple interviews and assumed the role in late 2020.

Therefore, my career reflection:
1) your pedigree doesn’t matter, it’s how you apply it,
2) recognize opportunities,
3) make sound calculations with multiple risk mitigation plans “A”, “B”, etc,
4) take chances to believe in yourself and
5) if afforded the opportunity – repeat this cycle!

Purpose driven organization especially through leadership is essential for ensuring adequate top-down matriculation of the strategic mindset.

If the leadership team is unified with defined purpose through internal self-reflection, then the effect is well-poised to be accepted and key to drive all-level understanding and alignment for successful implementation.

As leaders, we must continually renew the focal lens sets the stage for longevity based on “here and now” (current enterprise purpose and strategy) whilst endeavoring towards the “there and then” (driving futuristic innovation and creativity).
Create future-forward opportunities through strategic inflection aligned with adept initiatives. As formulating strategies inevitably leads to change, it is incumbent on leaders to possess ability to understand present challenges (clarify) leading into the future (demystify).

The five (5) most strategic alignment priorities for the enterprise needs:
➢ Understanding enterprise business shifts in a global economy
➢ Adaptation of commercial demand in novel/niche marketplaces
➢ Ensuring workplace continuity to provide adequate supply to the marketplace
➢ Focus on optimizing manufacturing process capability by securing workforce autonomy and agility
➢ Leading with courage and continual communication/feedback with business leaders to remain advantageously competitive

Resiliency means emboldening strategic implications to focus on workforce flexibility, cross-functionality, versatility and empowerment.

This sets the “future” stage towards business longevity by supporting and enhancing both team and organization by creativelyadapting employee career development and succession/continuity planning through collaborative networking, internal/external training workshops, professional seminars and trade shows. This new initiative driving employee empowerment and engagement action plan will ensure capability and capacity readiness, thereby encouraging and maintaining well-trained and motivated workforce by capitalizing on development goals.

Next phasing of additional flexible design or restructuring process would enable increased removal of cultural workplace barriers, thereby increasing autonomy/workforce engagement and ownership.
Although there’s a risk of further transgression from unfocused leadership (vertical organization), this must be thoughtfully planned and must align confidence and trust.

In my opinion, it’s not an alignment that can be adequately objectively measured through time (i.e. 3- or 5- year matriculation) whereas it’s measured more subjectively on the interactiveness and agility to maneuver challenges symbiotically.
Increased redundancy is part of this phased planning to increase aptitudes and resiliency, especially within the workforce.
Promoting and creating cross-functional development programs within same department will assist to further solidify and clarify input/output and create/enable hand-over rituals which are more collaborative and coordinated.
Another aspect of creating resiliency in the workforce is to keenly identify and understand gap challenges of next-generation management & leadership potential; thereby creating loyalty and ability for development and growth (i.e. securing technical “know-how” knowledge and competencies).

Through this expanded alliance relationship, KPMG firms will infuse data analytics underpinned by Microsoft Fabric and generative AI through the Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Services into the audit process.
