The AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium–led by Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) with industry leaders Accenture, Eightfold, Google, IBM, Indeed, Intel, Microsoft and SAP, along with key advisors–released its inaugural report, “The Transformational Opportunity of AI on ICT Jobs.” This comprehensive analysis provides an unprecedented look at the effects of artificial intelligence on nearly 50 top information and communication technology (ICT) jobs, offering actionable training recommendations to enable an AI-powered workforce.

The initiative and resulting report seek to empower workers to reskill and upskill with recommendations underscored by today’s evolving job requirements. With the introduction of technology and tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney and further emergence of AI tools, workers must prepare for digital work environments increasingly adept at mimicking human capabilities.

According to a recent World Economic Forum study, 58 percent of surveyed employees believe their job skills will change significantly in the next five years due to AI and big data.

JOIN THE WORLD FAMOUS DA VINCI EVENT

“AI represents a never-before-seen opportunity for technology to benefit humankind in every way, and we have to act intentionally to make sure populations don’t get left behind,” said Francine Katsoudas, Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, Cisco, and founding member of the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium.

“Across the Consortium member companies, we have made it our collective responsibility to train and upskill 95 million people over the next 10 years. By investing in a long-term roadmap for an inclusive workforce, we can help everyone participate and thrive in the era of AI.”

Key Findings: Every Job Becomes an AI-Influenced Job

Key findings from the report offer a holistic view of the impact of AI on ICT jobs, empowering workers and employers to embrace the AI-driven future of work:

●      92 percent of ICT jobs analyzed are expected to undergo either high or moderate transformation due to advancements in AI.

●      Entry-level and mid-level ICT professionals are at the forefront of AI transformation with  40 percent of mid-level positions and 37 percent of entry level positions expected to have high levels of transformation.

●      As AI continues to redefine job functions, certain skills will rise in importance (such as AI ethics, responsible AI, prompt engineering, AI literacy, Large Language Models [LLM] architecture and agile methodologies), while others may become less relevant (traditional data management, content creation, documentation maintenance, basic programming and languages, and research information).

●      Foundational skills are needed across ICT job roles for AI preparedness, including AI literacy, data analytics and prompt engineering.

Actionable Insights for Workers and Employers

The Consortium report provides a thorough examination of AI’s impact on 47 information and communication technology roles across seven job families via a Job Transformation Canvas. The roles were selected based upon the highest volume of job postings for the period of February 2023-2024 in the U.S. and Europe, according to Indeed Hiring Lab. Taking a skills-based approach, the Job Transformation Canvas describes each role inclusive of a job description, principal tasks and corresponding skills.

The Job Transformation Canvas goes further to outline how AI will influence each role and identify future skills required, skills made less relevant by AI as well as those complemented by it. Workers can use the Job Transformation Canvas as a training companion as they ready for an AI-fueled job market. Employers can leverage the report as a training development guide to cultivate and enable their AI-ready workforces.

The AI-Enabled ICT Consortium report resides at https://www.cisco.com/c/m/ai-enabled-ict-workforce-consortium.html for workers and employers to navigate jobs roles of interest–from business analyst and data scientist to IT manager to information security specialist–across seven job families including: business and management, cybersecurity, data science, design and user experience, infrastructure and operations, software development, and testing and quality assurance. Each ICT job receives an AI-impact evaluation with detailed recommendations for reskilling and upskilling. The core skills and training recommendations enable employers to take immediate action.

Our Commitment to Training

The report complements the Consortium members’ commitment to building an inclusive workforce with family-sustaining and economy-developing opportunities. Consortium members have committed to developing worker pathways particularly in job sectors that will increasingly integrate AI technology. To that end, Consortium members have established forward-thinking goals with skills development and training opportunities to positively impact over 95 million individuals around the world over the next 10 years. Consortium member goals include:

●      Cisco to train 25 million people with cybersecurity and digital skills by 2032.

●      IBM to skill 30 million individuals by 2030 in digital skills, including 2 million in AI by the end of 2026.

●      Intel to empower more than 30 million people with AI skills for current and future jobs by 2030.

●      Microsoft committed to training and certifying 10 million people in digital skills by 2025, surpassing this goal by training and certifying 12.6 million people a year ahead of schedule.

●      SAP to upskill two million people worldwide by 2025.

●      Google has recently announced over $130 million in funding to support AI training and skills for people across the US, Europe, Africa, Latin America and APAC.

Expanding Impact to Empower Workers and Employers Across the Globe

In June 2024, in response to feedback from leaders across the globe, the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium expanded its scope to include all G7 countries—adding Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom to the analysis of the most in-demand ICT job roles. During the next phase of Consortium work, analysis of jobs and presentation of best practices will be inclusive of the additional countries. The Consortium also plans to introduce an AI Workforce Playbook, designed to empower SMBs and large companies to upskill their workforce proactively.

That’s why Microsoft has committed to helping people and communities around the world gain new and necessary AI skills, and this new report contains important recommendations to take the global workforce into the future.” – Naria Santa Lucia, General Manager, Skills for Social Impact at Microsoft

SAP

“What stands out from this research beyond the undeniable needs for responsible AI development and broad AI literacy across all ICT jobs, is the necessity for all roles to enhance their higher-order skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, and complex problem-solving. Beyond the initial adoption of AI, we believe evaluating the second-order effects of these skills shifts will highlight which skills will be commoditized and which will be differentiating in the future.” – Nicole Helmer, Vice President & Global Head of Development Learning at SAP

Paris 2024 and LVMH unveil eco-designed outfits for volunteer medals bearers during Victory Ceremonies and medals trays designed by Louis Vuitton for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024

LVMH continues to showcase the creativity it brings to the Group’s partnership with Paris 2024, with garments that combine exceptional savoir-faire and creative circularity. The new outfits and medals trays join the gold, silver and bronze medals designed by Maison Chaumet, the Team France outfits designed by Berluti for the Opening Ceremonies, and the medals and torches trunks for the Paris 2024 Games designed and crafted by Louis Vuitton. The LVMH Group is once again proud to support Paris 2024 as creative partner for memorable moments of celebration, contributing excellence, elegance and unique global resonance.

Outfits inspired by the 1924 Games in Paris with a resolutely modern look

Paris, the fashion capital of the world, is once again welcoming the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 100 years after the last time the City of Light hosted the event. To connect with this heritage, LVMH has designed outfits that pay tribute to 1920s silhouettes, marked by the birth of sportswear, an affirmation of feminism and the first appearance of unisex styles.

The 515 medals bearers selected by Paris 2024 – young people who are members of national sports federations across France – will wear clothes that celebrate the history of France and its cultural and social heritage. The garments emphasize fluidity and freedom of movement.

Each medals bearer’s unisex outfit will consist of a polo shirt, roomy pants and a traditional gavroche cap. Volunteers will also receive a set of Fenty Beauty products, along with tips if they wish to wear makeup for the occasion.

Clothes that embody LVMH’s commitment to creative circularity

The 600 outfits made are aligned with the LVMH Group’s commitment to luxury that is both sustainable and inclusive:

Creative circularity, with 100% eco-designed materials, sourced in particular from the LVMH Circularity closed-loop textiles recycling ecosystem. The polo shirts and gavroche caps are in a jersey fabric made from recycled textiles using offcuts from different LVMH Maisons that have been upcycled by French startup Weturn, a certified B Corp company. The firm creates new outlets for unsold textile industry inventory, transforming fabrics first into yarn and then into new fabrics. The heavy jersey fabric created through this process was then cut and assembled in the Vosges region in France in a workshop certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The pants are made from a poly-wool blend fabric using recycled polyester.

Largely “made in France”: The polo shirts are made in France’s Vosges region by the family-led enterprise Duval, a longstanding partner of LVMH. The pants have been produced by La Fabrique NOMADE, a non-profit that the Group has partnered since 2019 which supports the professional integration of refugee artisans in France, helping them leverage the skills of the craft they practiced in their native country and adapt to the needs of the French market. The gavroche hats have been manufactured in Italy.

Life after Paris 2024: All the outfits are given to the volunteer medals bearers, who help these unique moments of celebration remain unforgettable for both the athletes and spectators.

Louis Vuitton medals tray designed specially for the Victory Ceremonies

Evoking Louis Vuitton’s trunkmaking heritage, the unique Medals Trays were crafted by expert Louis Vuitton artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop in the Maine-et-Loire region, specialized in making leather goods. The trays have an exterior covered by the Maison’s historic Damier canvas – created in 1888 – and the interior is lined with matt black leather, referencing the interiors of the Louis Vuitton Torches and Medals Trunks. Designed and crafted to be as light as possible, the Louis Vuitton Medals Trays can each hold two to six medals. They will carry the medals designed by jeweler Chaumet, bringing an additional touch of French savoir-faire to this exceptional moment that rewards a lifetime of dedication for each athlete on the winner’s podium.

The trays join the prestigious collection of bespoke cases created specially for Paris 2024. These exceptional objects perfectly epitomize LVMH’s mission, “the Art of Crafting Dreams”, and its role as “the Artisan of All Victories” for the Paris 2024 Games.

Antoine Arnault, LVMH Image & Environment, said: “These outfits and medals trays once again embody the ambition we have pursued since the very start of our partnership with Paris 2024, namely to contribute all our savoir-faire and the very best of our creativity to each instant, in order to truly be the Artisan of All Victories. Through this contribution to the Victory Ceremonies we are showcasing the work of our artisans and the organizations with which we work, adding a special touch to this historic moment for the athletes, one of the most beautiful moments in their careers and a lifelong memory. As for each of our creations, we are tremendously proud to once again help make these Olympic and Paralympic Games even more creative and sustainable. These clothes mirror our commitment to creative circularity and to a society that is more respectful towards the environment.”

Tony Estanguet, President of  Paris 2024, said: “Following the Olympic and Paralympic medals made by  Chaumet, the trunks for the medals and torches crafted by Louis Vuitton, and the uniforms of French athletes for the Opening Ceremonies designed and made by Berluti, we are delighted with this new chapter in our partnership with the prestigious LVMH Group as we reveal the medals trays and outfits to be worn by medals bearers during the Victory Ceremonies. These ceremonies are incredible moments in the lives of the athletes, a consecration of their efforts, a moment of communion with the public and a shared expression of national pride. These absolutely unique moments deserve to be magnified, and they most definitely will be, thanks to the amazing expertise of the Maisons of the LVMH Group, which have created exceptional medals trays and clothes for those who will present the medals. These Paris 2024 volunteers will have a chance to share in an absolutely unforgettable experience alongside the athletes. Bravo and thank you!”

Golden Opportunities: California to Train Students, Educators in AI

The State of California today announced a first-of-its-kind AI education initiative with NVIDIA.

The public-private collaboration supports the state’s goals in workforce training and economic development by giving universities, community colleges and adult education programs in California the resources to gain skills in generative AI.

“AI will continue to become more advanced and more prominent in all sectors, and California has the responsibility to support and prepare our students and faculties,” said Amy Tong, secretary of the California Government Operations Agency. “As a world leader in AI computing, NVIDIA is a natural partner to prepare the future of California’s workforce.”

Working With California Colleges and Universities

Through this initiative, California educators can gain certification through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador Program, which connects instructors with high-quality teaching kits, workshop content and NVIDIA GPU-accelerated workstations in the cloud.

“It’s always good to equip our professors and teachers because, as mentors to our youth, they are in the best position to help shape students’ career paths,” Tong said.

By empowering educators across the state with the skills to harness the latest AI technologies and NVIDIA GPUs, the initiative can prepare full-time students about to enter the workforce and it can train working professionals who are expanding their skills through community college or adult education courses.

“We want to train a workforce of the future, and also excite students and adults who are out of the workforce about opportunities for the future,” said Stewart Knox, secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency.

The state agencies are also exploring how internship and apprenticeship programs can offer students hands-on experience with AI skills.

Bolstering Efforts to Bridge the Digital Divide

NVIDIA is already working on multiple projects across California to make AI more accessible and understandable for students from a variety of backgrounds. The company’s educational initiatives and industry-spanning collaborations are helping students and professionals in biotechnology and life sciences, advanced manufacturing, media and entertainment, and other fields to gain proficiency in harnessing AI to support their work, enhance their productivity and drive innovation.

San José State University is evaluating how the NVIDIA Omniverse development platform could support the creation of digital twins — 3D virtual representations of real-world systems — for the city of San José. During the university’s annual Black Engineer Week in June, NVIDIA hosted dozens of students for a daylong program featuring tech demos and career advice discussions.

NVIDIA is embarking on several workforce, climate and community-based projects with schools in the University of California and California State University systems. One plans to train students on underwater data center technology, while another is working with California Black Media to train alarge language model on nearly a century of journalism by Black journalists in the state.

The NVIDIA GTC AI conference, held earlier this year in San José, featured several sessions for educators to explore how to integrate generative AI and NVIDIA technologies into their curricula — as well as a panel discussion about the need for equitable access to AI education and resources.

New Motivation Meter from Korn Ferry Examines Global Organizational Sentiment

  • UK motivation lowest, India highest
  • CEOs are nearly 25% more motivated than those in non-managerial roles
  • Millennials are the most motivated workforce generation.

Global organizational consulting firm Korn Ferry (NYSE: KFY) announced the launch of its new Motivation Meter, a measurement of workers’ motivation reflecting global sentiments.

The Motivation Meter examines workplace trends and dynamics affecting employee sentiment across all employees’ roles and career stages. Results from a survey fielded in March and April 2024 found that 71% of global workers are motivated to go above and beyond their role requirements.

“Amid hybrid work and growing concerns of disconnection in the workplace, it’s essential for organizations to focus on supporting employees with the right incentives, rewards and development opportunities to help them advance and reach their full potential,” said Mark Arian, CEO of Korn Ferry’s Consulting business. “Professionals who are motivated and feel excited about their work will release discretionary energy that will allow them to thrive, and ultimately become more aligned to the business strategy, delivering more value to the organization.”

Key global data points include:

  • Geographical differences abound: Of the geographies surveyed, the United Kingdom saw the lowest motivation in March and April 2024 with only 60% of professionals indicating that they are motivated, compared to 71% globally. Motivation levels in the UK also represent the lowest levels of any geography surveyed. In contrast, three in four U.S. workers (75%) are motivated. India has the most motivated workforce in 2024 overall (84%), according to the survey.
  • Motivation highest at CEO level, lowest for those who are not managers: Non-managers have the lowest motivation across all job levels, a trend which is most notable in the significant motivation gap between CEOs (81%) and those who are not in manager roles (57%). Overall, these low motivation levels may be driven by several factors, including the reprioritization of work-life balance, uneasiness around the rise of AI, and ongoing struggles to find a sense of purpose at work.
  • Millennials are the most motivated workers: Millennials are the most motivated generation (75%). Younger Gen Z workers have typically shown higher levels than Millennials, but according to our recent survey are now lagging. Similarly, Gen X and Boomers have previously responded around the same level as, or slightly higher than, Millennials but the recent survey indicates they are trending lower as age increases.

Methodology

Korn Ferry surveyed 10,000 professionals at all levels during March and April 2024, from entry-level to CEO, in six key markets: USA, UK, Brazil, Middle East, Australia, and India. Historical data from the past five years has been collected via the Korn Ferry Institute’s proprietary listening tool KF Listen, to set benchmarks for motivation over time. These questions were replicated with a larger sample to take a pulse of global employees at work.

About Korn Ferry

Korn Ferry is a global organizational consulting firm. We work with our clients to design optimal organization structures, roles, and responsibilities. We help them hire the right people and advise them on how to reward and motivate their workforce while developing professionals as they navigate and advance their careers.

IBM Introduces New Generative AI-Powered Cybersecurity Assistant for Threat Detection and Response Services

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today the introduction of generative AI capabilities to its managed Threat Detection and Response Services utilized by IBM Consulting analysts to advance and streamline security operations for clients. Built on IBM’s watsonx data and AI platform, the new IBM Consulting Cybersecurity Assistant is designed to accelerate and improve the identification, investigation and response to critical security threats.

In addition to being included in IBM Consulting’s threat detection and response practice, the Cybersecurity Assistant will be part of IBM Consulting Advantage, the AI services platform with purpose-built AI assets designed to empower IBM consultants to deliver value for clients with consistency, repeatability, quality and speed.

“As cyber incidents evolve from immediate crises to multi-dimensional and months-long events, security teams are facing the enduring challenge of too many attacks and not enough time or people to defend against them,” said Mark Hughes, Global Managing Partner of Cybersecurity Services, IBM Consulting. “By enhancing our Threat Detection and Response services with generative AI, we can reduce manual investigations and operational tasks for security analysts, empowering them to respond more proactively and precisely to critical threats, and helping to improve overall security posture for clients.”

IBM’s Threat Detection and Response (TDR) Services can automatically escalate or close up to 85% of alerts1; and now, by bringing together existing AI and automation capabilities with the new generative AI technologies, IBM’s global security analysts can speed the investigation of the remaining alerts requiring action. Specifically, the new capabilities helped reduce alert investigation times by 48% for one client. The new Cybersecurity Assistant delivers the following:

Accelerate threat investigations and remediation with historical correlation analysis
The Cybersecurity Assistant is designed to help speed up complex threat investigations via historical correlation analysis of similar threats. Built into IBM’s TDR Services, the new capability cross-correlates alerts and enhances insights from SIEM, network, EDR, vulnerability and telemetry to provide a holistic and integrative threat management approach.

By analyzing patterns of historical, client-specific threat activity, security analysts will be equipped to be more proactive and precise. To help them better comprehend critical threats, analysts will have access to a timeline view of attack sequences, helping them to better comprehend the issue and provide more context to investigations. The assistant will also auto-recommend actions based on the historical patterns of analyzed activity and pre-set confidence levels, speeding response times for clients and helping to reduce attackers’ dwell time. With the ability to continuously learn from investigations, the Cybersecurity Assistant’s speed and accuracy is expected to improve over time.

Streamlined operational tasks with an advanced conversational engine
The Cybersecurity Assistant includes a generative AI conversational engine that provides real-time insights and support on operational tasks to both clients and IBM security analysts. In addition to responding to requests such as opening or summarizing tickets, the conversational feature can automatically trigger relevant actions, including running queries, pulling logs, command explanations or enriching threat intelligence. By explaining complex security events and commands, the TDR Service can help reduce noise and boost overall SOC efficiency for clients.

“With IBM’s advancements to its managed security services, businesses can gain a new level of insight into critical threats and benefit from technology that continuously learns from actions taken within their specific environment. This helps drive a cycle of increasingly accurate and rapid threat investigations, which is especially crucial today as businesses face a shortage of security resources and surplus in security risks and vulnerabilities,” said Craig Robinson, a Research Vice President for IDC’s Security Services Research Practice.

Built in collaboration with IBM Research, the new IBM Consulting Cybersecurity Assistant takes advantage of IBM’s broader generative AI capabilities – built on the company’s Granite foundation models, refined for production within IBM watsonx.ai, and tapping into IBM watsonx Assistant for the conversational chat interface.
